I have always been a heavy set teen but with the help of CORE I will soon be as lean and sexy as the people I see in the magazines. When I first met Matt he showed up on my door step as a pizza delivery guy and tricked me with a salad on the MTV Show Made.

Soon after he did a complete 180 with my diet and showed me that you can eat healthy and still have great tasting food.

I went from donuts and Oreo’s to low fat dressings and carrot sticks, from a lazy teen to an active triathlete. It wasn’t easy and I fought him every step of the way but we got through it together. I owe my health and my new found life to Matt and the CORE staff. I could never thank them enough but I will try. Thank you all for everything you have done for me.

I cannot express how CORE has changed my life. I was 24 years old, 271 pounds, felt horrible physically, and completely unhealthy. I was going to start a “no carb” diet when CORE was recommended to me. They started me on a personalized meal plan, gave me nutritional counseling, and inspired me to change my life. I had no idea what was good food and was bad food. I come from a family where 90% of the members are overweight, and from the south.

Needless to say I was well on my way to becoming a part of that percentage. CORE taught me how to exercise, and how to live a healthy life. Now, a year later, I weigh 187, and still want to lose more! After two months of this new lifestyle I stopped smoking as well. CORE has the best trainers, nutrition coaches, listeners, and also great friends. I could not have made this big step in my life without their help.

After college I slowly put on a few pounds a year until I reached a high of 270 and was completely out of shape. I felt tired, sluggish, and couldn’t get a good night of rest.

I started training with no expectations and was dead set on not changing my diet and eating habits. However, after receiving help and encouragement from the CORE staff, I changed my diet, started exercising consistently and I lost 45lbs along with lowering my body fat almost 10%. I’m sleeping better, have eliminated all my digestive problems and this has given me a significant increase in energy.

As I have aged, the waistline kept expanding and the pounds kept increasing. When the opportunity came to consider CORE, I took the step to try it out. I loved the training and the personal attention to detail.

I was introduced to Core Fitness while helping out with their July 4th parade float, where basically, I was the “before” guy. And let’s be honest, “I was the before guy”. I am 5 foot 9 inches, 46 years old and weighed 265 lbs.; undergoing treatment for back problems that affected my ability to walk. During my initial baseline test, I was able to do only a few pushups.

I started working out under the guidance of a trainer with nervous expectations, not really sure where “working with a trainer” was going to take me. Let me be very direct. It was a life changing decision. They are passionate, hard-working, and energetic coaches that work with the client to help achieve that individuals best results. They create a “team” concept, actively involving you to improve your individual health.

A short eight months later, I am close to 225 lbs., with an overall goal of getting to 200 lbs. I am now able to run on the treadmill, lift weights, and even started learning the art of boxing, a great way to get cardio exercise. I have a new lease on life. I have learned so much about getting fit that I would recommend Core to anyone ready to make a life changing decision.

I like the one-on-one personal attention that Core Fitness provides. It’s nice to not be in one of the big gyms where there is little privacy and the trainers are a dime-a-dozen. They are very knowledgeable and provide a healthy approach to taking the weight off. They listen to my needs and address any of my questions. Their background in physical therapy and athletic training allow the trainer to advise not only on what I do with them in the gym, but also in my other activities, like running.
And last, but not least, the team at Core Fitness are friendly, supportive, and encouraging. So far as to even run races with clients!

As a journalist who has spent the last five years whittling myself down from 318 pounds, it’s my job to weed out the lies from the truth. So when I was looking for a trainer who could help me reach my final goal, I found what I thought was a “no b.s.” approach to weight loss that led to my losing 60 pounds of fat under CORE’s direction.

Not only are they knowledgeable in weight loss, but they encompass the single personality trait I have found to be the most effective in losing weight—flexibility. Every 20 pounds I shed brings a new layer of personality that was buried under the fat. It’s their job to sense that and to keep up with my ever-changing attitude and sense of self to constantly challenge me in new ways and to keep me on-track. Not to mention, weight loss is emotionally draining—it brings about feelings you didn’t realize you had. And sometimes a trainer must bear the brunt of the client’s anger following years of mistreatment as an overweight individual. CORE does all these things—and does them well.
